Montreal, January 15, 2010 - The Commission for Environmental Cooperation is a collaboration between Canada, Mexico and the United States, created to protect North America's shared environment. CEC addresses environmental concerns, prevents trade and environmental conflicts, and promotes enforcement of environmental law in North America.

CEC required a website that would improve usability and site-wide navigation to present information from an end-user perspective. CEC selected NMA to establish a Spanish, French and English content management system following a rigorous RFP process.

The objectives were to develop an identity for the Commission, present the dynamic nature of its organization and activities, and show to visitors how it is fulfilling its mission - to promote environmental collaboration between the three countries.

NMA worked with CEC Communication and Information System personnel to re-design and re-architect the website. A situational analysis was conducted with CEC departments and working groups to identify issues and opportunities for the website for the near and longer term.

In addition, NMA designed an Information Architecture that represented a consensus-view of current needs - while laying the foundation for future growth.

The new website incorporates current best practices, tools and techniques to promote usability and portability of CEC information. The Commission can now transition from a paper-based to an online delivery of information with an improved workflow for content creation, editing, approval and publishing.

Most importantly, non-technical CEC staff can now directly manage website content, giving them a level of control over the website that was previously unavailable.
